but why film?

I genuinely believe there is something magical about film. The way it captures color and light just feels different than digital. The way the colors come together feels a painting. As a film photographer, I am able to choose a film stock based on the colors and feelings that I want to create. Ways that showcase your wedding palette, or outfit, the way it was meant to be seen.

As amazing as digital photography is, I still choose to pick up my film camera for my own personal photos. Film has taught me how to be intentional with my images. I have to stop and decide exactly what I want to capture. I have to decide the exact lighting. I have to decide the way I want my colors to show up. When I started choosing film, I started looking at the world in a new way.

what is super 8?

Super 8 is motion captured on actual film rather than digitally. It has a nostalgic, home-movie quality that makes even the simplest moments feel incredibly special. There's something so beautiful about watching your memories move. The way your partner laughs, your friends dancing, your parents tearing up, the wind in the trees. It's a little imperfect, a little nostalgic, and completely yours.

Like film photography, super 8 has a limited time to shoot on each roll. I can't film everything, and I don't think I should. It allows me to be very intentional on what I choose to film. It isn't meant to replace your photo gallery. It is meant to bring it to life. It is meant to watch the most important, intimate moments for an eternity.

is film right for you?

Maybe you're like me! Maybe you love the nostalgic, imperfect look and want to add something a little more intentional to your photos or wedding day. Because film and Super 8 have limited time on each roll, I have to be thoughtful about what I choose to capture.

It's not meant to document your entire wedding like a traditional videographer. It's a small collection of moments, captured with intention.

You don't have to change the way you experience your day just because we're shooting film. I'll be watching, waiting, and looking for the moments that happen naturally. When I do need a little more intention from you, I'll guide you through it. Sometimes that might mean walking somewhere again, holding a moment for a few extra seconds, or recreating something that already happened.
